ONE CITY Basketball Leadership summit
The One City Leadership Summit will occur during the Finals Weekend of the 2024 One City Spring Tournament. One City Basketball is a Chicago-based peace league comprised of 28 violence prevention organizations operating locally. The league servicing young men aged 16 to 25 is financially incentivized with mandatory off-court programming focused on financial coaching, conflict resolution, and job readiness.
The One City Finals Weekend is scheduled for June 22-23, 2024. The One City Leadership Summit will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, hosted at the Whitney Young High School; followed by the One City Finals on June 23rd at 167 Green in the West Loop.
All 28 teams will be invited to the summit. The 280 participating players will be encouraged to invite a household member who may also be seeking potential employment & workshop opportunities.
Throughout the event, participants will rotate through various group workshops and interactive activities and listen in on a panel of top influential individuals from Chicago. The ultimate goal of the summit is to empower participants to pursue professional careers beyond One City as well as to open their eyes to a greater, more peaceful path forward.
The objective of the One City Leadership Summit is to create a forum for the participants of One City to engage with business professionals, facilitating exposure to diverse employment avenues previously beyond their purview, thereby fostering awareness and exploration of alternative career pathways.

Alternative Opportunities: The Rivers Casino Universe
Our workshop will introduce the unique career opportunities within the gaming industry beyond the gaming floor. Additionally, our team will walk attendees through our take on interview prep and general interviewing Do's and Don'ts. Hosted by our Talent Leadership team.
Expression from the Inside: Expressing Yourself Through Art
In this workshop, Cecilia Rodhe and two Ladies of the Arc facilitators, will lead you through an experiential that will center art-making, expression and self-reflection. Asking the question, what is peace to you? When did you have to choose or use peace as a resolution for something that was hard or challenging? And what is unity? Who is on your team? How do you unite with others? Through discussion and an art-making activation, you will use your imagination and own lived experience to develop your language from within and better connect to your consciousness and creativity.
Empowering Growth Mindset: Unlocking Opportunities

Overcoming Negative Mindsets: Healing Your Thinking and Improving Your Decision-Making
In this workshop, players will be introduced to the principles of Addiction as it relates to Criminal Addictive Thinking and how our Thinking is a result of learned behavior. The Origins of Hip Hop: The Principles of Beat-Making
The workshop will cover the principles of making beats by using sequences. Sequencing loops in audio production involves arranging pre-recorded segments of sound (loops) in a digital audio workstation (DAW) to create a musical composition. This process includes selecting loops that complement each other in terms of tempo, key, and rhythm, and then placing them on a timeline to build the structure of a track.
