Empowering Youth Through Basketball

Since its founding in 2010, Noah’s Arc Foundation has been committed to giving youth a stronger sense of self through sports and art. On the court, basketball has served as a powerful tool for connection, discipline, and growth—helping young people discover their confidence, build teamwork skills, and translate those lessons into everyday life.

Over the years, we’ve developed and supported a variety of basketball-based programs designed to engage youth, promote unity, and provide safe, positive spaces for personal development. From local tournaments to community partnerships, each initiative has been rooted in our belief that the values learned through basketball—respect, leadership, and perseverance—extend far beyond the game.

Our basketball initiatives have included:

  • Stick Man Tournament – A partnership with the Queens, NY YMCA, hosted for two consecutive years, that celebrated community and competition through sport.

  • Midnight Basketball – Held at the Major Adams Community Center in Chicago, these evening summer clinics provided young people with a safe and constructive outlet during months when violence in the city typically peaks.

  • Coaches of America Partnership – For the past decade, we’ve collaborated with Coaches of America (formerly Up2Us Sports) to bring trauma-informed coaching to the Major Adams Community Center and the Marillac St. Vincent Home, ensuring that youth receive guidance that nurtures both mind and body.

  • St. Sabina Peace Tournaments – Partnering with St. Sabina Church in Chicago, we joined their community peace initiatives that use basketball as a bridge toward understanding and healing.

  • Art & Basketball Clinics – Workshops led by Joakim Noah and Cecilia Rodhe, combining expressive arts and athletic mentorship to help youth explore identity, creativity, and confidence.

  • Citywide Basketball & Leadership – A long-running basketball initiative designed to bring together young men from Chicago’s South and West sides, using sport as a bridge for connection, leadership, empathy, and stronger community ties.

Each of these programs reflects our core belief that basketball can be a transformative force—teaching not just how to play the game, but how to navigate life with purpose, integrity, and hope.

As we evolve, we’re building on this strong foundation with a new basketball program currently in development—continuing our commitment to empower the next generation through sport, mentorship, and community.
